San Francisco CA – April 4, 2014 – This week, Gal Borenstein, CEO & Chief Strategy Officer at Borenstein Group, provided commentary on pros and cons of Big Data at the annual Hub Convene conference in San Francisco, CA. Borenstein offered unique insight through a lively debate with fellow panelists Gina Cassagrande, Lead Evangelist for Adobe Target/Marketing Cloud; Michael Lattig, Director of Marketing at StubHub; and Gordon Evans, VP of product marketing at Salesforce ExactTarget Marketing Cloud. The subject of the panel was, “Is Big Data Working?”
Borenstein noted that the phrase Big Data is both “meaningful” and “meaningless.” He advised marketers to sit in the boardroom with the CFO, CIO, and CEO with a word cloud that allows them to understand what customers are saying. “Do it in two minutes, rather than a full day,” he adds. “Start with a business impact you’re trying to get to. CEOs want to know what they do not know.”
The Hub Convene event brought together leaders in the fields of technology, software, web applications, marketing and communications in order to address emerging trends and central issues in today’s tech-driven marketplace.
Omar Akhtar, The Hub’s Senior Editor, moderated the panel. Akhtar first sought to define what Big Data is, before inviting panelists to explore the benefits and challenges that Big Data can pose in a variety of business environments.
“As a frequent contributor to the Hub, I was excited to participate. Being able to engage with digital executives from leading innovative companies such as Adobe, StubHub and Salesforce provides a great opportunity to share the insight and experience I have gained throughout nearly two decades leading a successful technology marketing agency,” added Borenstein. “These digital executives, like many of our clients at Borenstein Group, are focused on how to leverage Big Data to obtain actionable insight that drives business growth.”
